In as much as the last 2 weeks gave us a glimpse of what Summer could be like, the weekend of 2 & 3 of December is set to go down in history as the wettest start to any Summer on record! So again, the gods of weather tease us and give us a little taste of what nice weather is like and straight away, the gods take it away again!
This shall not “dampen” the enthusiasm of divers with the Guinness world record attempt and our Open water class.
We also had over 25 club members join us for our fabulous club night on FRIDAY 8 DECEMBER when we hosted one of Australia’s foremost underwater photographers and photography instructor, Matt Krumins. Matt presented a specific topic covering what has to be looked at with your dive gear prior to a dive trip as well as packing your dive gear for that dive trip and with the amount of SCUBA CULTURE divers joining us overseas next year in the Gili Islands and Papua New Guinea, this presentation was very well attended.
THE DAY VICTORIAN DIVERS SMASHED THE WORLD RECORD!
December 2 was a historical moment in the life of the Victorian Dive Industry with a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD attempt at becoming the longest underwater human chain.
The event was organised by D.I.V.A, the Diving Industry of Victoria Association with most dive shops and clubs involved and supporting the attempt.
362 divers descended on Rye Pier and joined in to make the day successful and to take the record… And indeed they did!
