Wreck Diving (External survey)

Wreck diving is a specialized area of scuba diving that can be enjoyed by all divers, in all areas of the world.

It offers a new outlet for adventure and helps satisfy the diver’s natural curiosity by allowing a glimpse at our past. Discover how fascinating wreck research can be, whilst learning how to select the best wreck sites and equipment for your skill level.

Wreck diving will open up a whole new world, but only if you’re properly trained!

LEARN TO DIVE – WRECK DIVING (EXTERNAL SURVEY)

Theory training (online learning and 1 in class theory session *the digital theory content includes Advanced Wreck)
• Locating a wreck and diving that site
• Selecting the best wreck sites, and equipment for your skill level
• Researching the shipwreck and dive planning
• Acts of government that cover wreck diving and artefact collecting
• Handling situations that can arise
• Underwater communication techniques

Dives:
• Buoyancy technique and finning technique
• Practical assessment of buoyancy control and SMB deployment
• Surveying the wreck externally
• Preliminary safety and orientation assessment
Your Wreck diving course consists of online learning (incl. Advanced Wreck) & 1 theory session, and 2 boat dives

COST: $595

Prerequisites

Open Water diver certification
SSI Deep diver & Perfect Buoyancy certifications, due to the nature of dives required
A minimum of 15 dives in the last 12 months, 4 of which must be boat dives

Online Wreck diver materials (includes Advanced Wreck Diver)
Tanks and air
Boat dives x 2

Exclusions

Wetnotes, SMB and Spool
Redundant air supply ($50 weekend rate)
Balanced regulators with long hose on primary second stage, dive computer, wetsuit/drysuit, lead, basic snorkelling equipment (Mask, snorkel, fins, boots, gloves) (no split fins)
Primary and secondary torches (speak to our Wreck instructors for specifications), canister or Goodman handle mountable
