Club dives & Minke whales

As we head into the second month of Winter with a moderate lifting of restrictions, there are still worrying signs that some people in our community simply don’t get it, whether it’s through language difficulty, ignorance or arrogance, the signs are worrying for everyone and from a diving industry aspect, should restrictions come back, the consequences will be devastating.
The first month of Winter brought us awesome diving weather conditions albeit somewhat chilly, but nevertheless great visibility and calm seas both inside the bay and out in Bass Straits.  The top end of the bay is now substantially colder than the bottom of the bay due to it being so shallow and therefore more easily affected by the cool air temperatures, Williamstown is currently sitting at a balmy 11 degrees whilst Rye and Blairgowrie are providing us with 13 degrees and Bass Straits has a tropical offering of 14 degrees.
Whilst on the subject of TROPICS, we still have places left on our Great Barrier Reef trip aboard Spirit Of Freedom diving the Coral Sea from the 19 to the 26 July 2021 on a Minke Whale Expedition, with the opportunity to do up to 26 dives exploring the deep walls of Osprey Reef and rarely visited Ribbon Reefs with opportunities to swim with the Dwarf Minke Whales. On the subject of club dives, since the start of a somewhat “New” freedom, every single club dive that we’ve run has been full, both on the boat and shore/pier dives.  This shows how much people have missed their diving.  One group that we’re not seeing though are many of the more recently certified divers who became accredited last Summer, you guys are missing out on some incredible local diving at the moment!!!  So! If we certified you OPEN WATER over Summer (Between December 1 and March 31) we would like to offer you half price hire for the club dive of July 11, remember that we’re capped at 10 divers so please jump on early.
